CHIANG MAI BASE CAMP

The Rose of the North

Chiang Mai is a traditional walled city, yet open to the modern world. Beloved of the Thais, it is known as the Rose of the North. It is true that it has everything needed to delight you. Its long history is full of myth and legend, its countless ruins and temples can be visited on foot or by bicycle. The tenor of life is gentle, its rhythm easy and the city is perfectly placed for lovers of the beauty of nature and of mountain sports. Chiang Mai is the perfect starting place and base camp for our adventure

An hour from Bangkok by plane,

the capital of the North of Thailand, is a perfect stopping-off and relaxation point. Served by several international airlines it counts as one of the major urban centres of the kingdom, but it has kept all the charm of a country town.

It’s easy to be seduced by this subtle mix of tropical langor, Buddhist serenity and Asian dynamism.

The centre and its little streets full of bars and restaurants, the countless street markets and food stalls, the local Thai traditional massage skills make Chiang Mai a privileged holiday destination. The hundreds of temples, the old walls of the city and its moat, the monks wandering around the city to get morning offerings give the city some spirituality and a rare traditional atmosphere.

Before or after the race, for a single night or for several,

Chiang Mai is the ideal spot to treat oneself to a little relaxation.

Race start is done just nearby the old city centre with a very easy and quick access by public taxi or tuk tuk.
